1935: Listings in German Catalogues

Among the Leica catalogues currently in my collection, the Elmar 35mm f/4.5 has been identified in only two publications.

In the German catalogue Liste Photo Nr. 7325 c. of June 1935, the lens is listed as „Leitz-Elmar“ 3,5 cm 1 : 4,5. Schnappschuß-Objektiv für die Standard-Leica, nicht gekuppelt. This may be translated as “Leitz Elmar 3.5 cm f/4.5. Snapshot lens for the Standard Leica, not coupled.” In this context, “not coupled” refers to the absence of rangefinder coupling. The assigned codeword is Elroo, and the listed retail price was RM 40.

In the German catalogue Liste Photo Nr. 7333 b, published in the same month, the lens is listed more briefly as “Leitz=Elmar, Schnappschußobjektiv”. The assigned codeword remains Elroo, and the listed retail price is likewise RM 40.
